"Chacho" returned to Núñez, this time to the dugout. As a player he wore the sash in two spells (1999–2002 and 2003–2004); as a manager he built his career at Rosario Central, Racing — where he won the 2019 title — Internacional of Porto Alegre and Celta Vigo, among others.
He took charge of the first team in 2026.
